Today is a big day for me. After three months of writing and editing I self-publish my free e-book “A Strategy for Constant Change”. You can download the PDF file here.

I got the idea for writing a book on constant change after many years of studying how organizations deal with change - and I came to the conclusion change management cannot be the answer. It’s not just rigid and boring, it’s also corporate and inhuman. And above all, change management creates a paradox: by combining periods of change with periods of stability change actually becomes random. By driving possible changes through a funnel, and by filtering which changes will be applied change management creates a produced situation where resources count the most and human beings count the least. This problem is supposedly solved by people change management which is nothing more than window dressing to save the corporation’s skin.

The thesis of this book is that people create change - that change exists only in the minds of people - and that to properly deal with change people have to be put in the driver’s seat. Period. To corporations this sounds like heresy, and is exactly what is being avoided. Regardless, organizations that explore the principles of constant change and play with them will succeed at rates desired by and far, far out of reach of corporations.

I won’t repeat everything that is said in the book, so if you want to know more please download this book now and start reading. In a while I’ll conduct a poll to learn in which other formats you would like to see this book delivered. For now please share your thoughts and comments below.

Enjoy

Steven

Steven,

This is a fantastic piece of work, the product of hard work and passion. Your commitment to the cause and the thoughtfulness with which you’ve applied yourself is plain to see in Seth’s triiibe, and inspirational to be around.

I like the company you keep and I agree with Jule, to quote Jerry McGuire for a moment, with Kevin, Yochai and Michael on the first page ‘you had me at hello’.

You’ve covered a great deal of ground in this book and I’m sure it will provide much food for thought for anyone interested in the changes that that we seek, that we’re making and that are upon us. Thanks for sharing this.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. The response to the book so far has been a bit overwhelming, and the download trend keeps going up. Thank you for your enthusiasm, it’s a great feeling to know there are other people out there who value the same ideas I do.

I’m looking forward to hearing your stories as they relate to the book. I’ll launch a campaign in a couple of weeks to get that going. For now, enjoy reading, discussing and sharing the book.

Thanks

Steven

A quick glance through the book is intriguing; like your comments at Triiibes, it stretches my brain and makes me try to think new things (the best gift anyone could give me!)

Really looking forward to digging in.

Hi Steven,

Ran through the book with much enthousiasm. I’m thrilled because I do feel that you managed to catch lots of stuff that was up in the air and sort it into a wonderful story. I’ll reread it and spread the word.

Great to see this happen.

Got introduced into your “Strategy of a constant change” recently.
You managed succesfully to summarize a lot of proven techniques & advice. Your
summary is very recognisable for anybody involved in large change initiatives. The ability to change is becoming core in a lot of (business) situations but many businesses fail in facilitating this engine of change.

Hi Steven,
I want to thank you for this amazing, excellent and expiring work! This book is a bottom line of many many stories and proven practices successfully shared by new business model pioneers. It provides tons of ideas, myriads of opportunities. This book is a movement!

Keep on this way, we are waiting for v0.2 of the book!
